YAK Hobby Old Town PDL Steering Handle Thrust Washer Kit.

Tired of the sloppy rudder control handle on your Old Town PDL Kayak?

We have the solution for you! Our new PDL Thrust Washer kit. This kit allows you to shim that slop out of your rudder handle for a more precise / firm feel of your rudder control.

The kit includes 3x different size shims to help you dial in the the resistance / drag of the handle while remoting the sloppy feeling of the handle.

PLEASE NOTE that the Rudder Control Assembly is NOT INCLUDED. Sale of this item is for the shim washer kit only.

Super easy to install with a Exacto knife, Philip's screw driver and a 1/4" deep well socket / ratchet / extension combo

How to Install:

#1 Peel Old Town Center medallion off using the Exacto Knife to lift the edge. This will expose the Head of the rudder pivot bolt

#2 Remove the 4x Phillips head bolts from the base of the control and lift it up from the hull to expose the bottom side

#3 Using the socket ratchet combo w the Philips head screw driver. loosen and remove the center pivot bolt.

#4 Remove the upper rudder control handle from the base to expose the splined shaft.

#5 Next select a thrust washer and slip it over the shaft. We suggest starting with the smaller .060" thick washer.

#6 Re-assemble in the reverse order from the disassembly process.

#7 Adjust the tension / drag of the handle by loosening / tightening the center pivot bolt until the desired resistance is achieved.

Note: Thicker shims may be added and subtracted as well to achieve the desired tension.

This Item is covered by our manufacturing defect warranty. If it fails due to a manufacturing defect, we will replace it for free!

Shipping

Shipping prices shown in our auctions mostly reflect rates for customers within the USA. International customers are welcome to bid but we please ask that you email us first for shipping quotation to avoid any unexpected surprises at check out. If you want your item fast, use the Priority mail option. The Parcel post option is the least expensive BUT is a slow shipment method and it could take up to 2 weeks for you to receive your item. Please note we only ship International Orders by Priority Mail

Combined Shipping

Combined shipping is automatically calculated for multiple purchase of this item within this auction.
